The Martin Acres neighborhood was built in the early 1950s on land surrounding Martin Farm, an old apple farm with sprawling acreage. The original Martin Farm house is still visible at the corner of 35th St. and Moorhead Ave. The neighborhood was constructed by Turnpike Builders, Inc. as housing for returning World War II vets and the young families they were starting at the beginning of the “Baby Boom.” Martin Acres’ quality of life and strong sense of community continues to attract those drawn to Boulder’s present education, professional and artistic communities.
